FROM RECENT PRESS RELEASE
The Middle School Orchestra from the Charleston School of the Arts (SOA MSO) wins the top awards at the Heritage National Orchestra Competition in Orlando, Florida. In the Middle School Orchestra division, the Orchestra received the GOLD Award with scores of 98, 97 and 93 from their three adjudicators. In the Overall Orchestra Division, the SOA MSO received First Place and the Outstanding Orchestra Award!!
The SOA MSO placed FIRST, above their competitors from Canada and Virginia, including the internationally recognized Charlottesville, VA High School Concert and Festival Orchestras. Even though the SOA MSO is an award winning orchestra, this is a significant achievement considering the competition included world class High School orchestras accustomed to winning top honors on both national and international levels. The Director, Mrs. Susan Mears, also received the Adjudicator Award for Excellence in Conducting.
